Blogging from the Blizzard...

You know it's going to be a bad storm when the entire city of Boston shuts down... A blizzard is heading for Boston tonight, and this storm should pack an even bigger punch than the storms that hit Boston shortly after Christmas. Apparently we are also due for a bit of thundersnow! These Texans had no clue what thundersnow actually was (and some thought we made this up), so here's a shot from the evening news as proof:

According to Wikipedia, thundersnow is a "rare kind of thunderstorm with snow falling as the primary precipitation instead of rain." With school officially canceled tomorrow, we plan to stay up late and catch some of the action!

Above the (winter) Law

A shot of the somewhat frozen Charles River featuring the tallest law school in the country in the foreground and downtown Boston further off. That's right folks, what you see there is the Boston University Law School where Jessica spends her days. Good thing she's generally studying inside so she doesn't have to look at the outside of the (ugly) building... On the plus side, the view from the law school is phenomenal!

Well, maybe not exactly, but even though we had to wait until January to see our first snow, it sure is exciting!

Giving thanks for Thanksgiving!

This year we decided to celebrate Thanksgiving with our friends in Boston. With both a mixture of friends we met at the University of Texas and Jessica's classmates from Boston University, it was a lot like the first Thanksgiving. You know, the fictional one we tell children about where both Pilgrims and Native Americans sat down together to share a meal.



As part of the decoration, we had some decorative corn with name tags. Then they turned into handy dandy parting gifts at the end of the night!



With a larger kitchen than last year, we were able to put all the food on the counters and have two people in the kitchen their filling their plates -- at the same time! Along with the turkey, we had plenty of food to feed all 11 hungry mouths, including delicious stuffing, vegetables, salad, cranberry sauce and relish, and wonderful desserts.



To add a little extra Thanksgiving sparkle to the scene, we added several decorative gourds to the table. You'll notice a Cinderella Pumpkin in the center there. If you hollow it out, however, it would not make a good carriage.
