Getting ready for Easter!

We went out for a walk the other day and caught the Easter bunny doing a little reconnaissance on good hiding places. Justin suggested anything not on the ground because he hates having to pick all those eggs up...

Goodbye Winter...

I guess it's official. Even this pile of icy snow that sits near the north side of our building (and is therefore blocked from any sun exposure) has melted away. Signs of spring seem to be popping up everywhere...

Trip to DC!

Living in the New England area, we felt the need to take advantage of some of the nearby sites. One of those sites is the blooming of the cherry blossoms in D.C. around the beginning of April.

As it turns out, some of the prettiest flowers were near the Jefferson Memorial around the Tidal Basin. Granted, it also turns out that it's not a very well kept secret, so we were joined by thousands of other people who were also there to see the flowers. Either that, or everyone was excited to go for a jog at the same time now that the weather is finally nice.

To make an event of the trip, we met up with Dilen, Amy and Chuy.

Having both been to D.C. before, we had already been to many of the sites. One of the places that Jessica had not been to was the Arlington National Memorial, so we made some time to pay our respects.

This is a close up shot of the flame burning at the JFK burial site. Seems to be alive, doesn't it?

All and all, we had a great weekend. If you happen to be Facebook friends with Justin, you can see more of his photos posted on his Facebook account. Otherwise, hope these were enough!

April Fools!

Who said that mothers don't have a sense of humor? Here it is, the first of April and Mother Nature decides to drop several inches of snow on us -- so much snow that our flight to DC was delayed by an hour! Don't worry, we made it in one piece, so look for some cherry blossom pictures sometime in the next week!

Snow Post

Somehow with all the snow we had this winter, we didn't write that many posts about snow. That's probably because it's cold when it snows, so we don't want to go outside and take pictures...

Granted, some people didn't even bother to go outside to uncover their cars.

If you're wondering how an inch of snow sticks to a branch that's pointing down, that branch was horizontal before the snow started falling.

The outside looks so beautiful, especially when you can look at it through a window. For some perspective, this is the same walkway that you can see behind the mouse in our post from the fall.

And this is Fenway Park. Don't worry, it should all melt away in time for opening day on April 8th!

We're all stars now at the Bulb Show!

This past weekend we went to visit Justin's family in Western Massachusetts. Apparently, they had a pretty mild winter...

No, actually they took us to Smith College where they have a great greenhouse bulb show.

Granted, over time the show has expanded beyond just bulbs, and so now there are all kinds of plants on display. But instead of telling you about all the flowers, why don't you tell us -- which is your favorite? Note: Number precedes the photo.

Wow, that was a lot faster than trying to come up with comments for all the photos. It also prevented Justin from saying anything inappropriate.

New England Spring

Yesterday was the first full day of spring, and as is always the case with spring, it came with a fresh layer of snow. But don't worry, that quickly turned into rain, because there's nothing as nice as being cold AND wet.

If you were wondering about the building featured in the photo, this is part of the Boston College campus. Justin recently interviewed for and got a temporary position working at BC, so if you're wondering, THAT'S WHAT HE IS DOING WITH HIS TIME.
