William's One-Month Birthday!

One month ago today we met the most amazing little man. And we were very excited to celebrate with a little I-C-E C-R-E-A-M (he's not allowed to have any yet).

William has another visitor, his Grandma, although that name has yet to be finalized. Turns out one does not pick the name they want their grandchild calling them without first considering all options.

A Twittering we shall go...

Several times we have heard people comment, "I wish I had written down all the funny things my child said when they were little." With that in mind, we are considering starting a family Twitter account in order to capture those moments and share them in one place.

For those of you unfamiliar with Twitter, it is a website where people can post and share comments with the world, but you have to limit those comments to 140 characters. Don't worry, you don't have to have a Twitter account to read our tweets (the comments on Twitter are called tweets). We will set it up so you can see all the tweets right on the blog.

What we do need to figure out is a name for the account that isn't already taken. If you have any suggestions, leave a comment with your idea and if we like it, we may use it!

Cookies!

We got a special package in the mail the other day all the way from Hawai'i. This cookie jar was made by Justin's dad when he was in high school for his mother. She sent it to us and now we have it, and maybe some day William will inherit it.

Mother's Day Gift!

Jessica got an amazing Mother's Day gift from our friend Mary. These are all personalized cookies to commemorate the occasion.

Each cookie has amazing detail. Mary also appears to be a psychic as she made a cookie of William's future tattoo. 

Best part? William is too young so we'll have to eat all his cookies for him!

A walk in the park!

We decided to take William out into nature. Initially we were going to stop by the National Arboretum, but apparently the sequestration has forced the park to close Tuesday-Thursday (and fire the person in charge of updating the hours on the website). So we ended up at the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Center, which had a bunch of wildlife but not as many flowers as the Arboretum. It was either very calming or very boring for William because he slept the whole time.

Happy Mother's Day!

While he didn't manage to get up early enough to cook his mom breakfast in bed, he did remember to buy her a card, which was enough to bring the new mom to tears on her first Mother's Day!

In college, the best way to get people to come to your place was to throw a party. Apparently, the rules have changed and now a baby is the best way to get visitors. It's as if William is a rock star! Here he is posing with two of his fans, Andrew and Amy.

While still relatively infrequent, we are seeing William open his eyes. Granted, he does seem a little skeptical still of the outside world, but that may just be because he has yet to taste ice cream.
