We made it!

We're in Hong Kong. We left at noon on Saturday and arrived at 8pm on Sunday, but we are here. Diane, please don't call the embassy! Pictures to follow soon.

Pfun with Pfauna in Pflugerville!

Congratulations to Joel and Laura!

Just wanted to send out a big congrats to Joel and Laura Johnson, married on December 28th, 2008. Laura is Jessica's oldest cousin, and Joel is a really cool guy. We also want to say thanks for getting married, because now when people ask us, "How does it feel to be married?" we can say, "Why don't you ask the newlyweds?"



It has also been pointed out by Granny (pictured below with her second oldest granddaughter), that the similarities between the recently wed couples are rather astonishing...


For example:

• We were married on November 28th, J+L were married on December 28th
• Joel has a beard, Justin often tries to grow a beard
• Joel has a brother, Justin has a brother
• We were vegetarian (for awhile), J+L are vegan
• Joel is a teacher, Justin is a substitute teacher
• Jessica is older then Justin, Laura is older then Joel
• Justin has an attractive wife, Joel has an attractive wife
• Justin weighs more then Jessica, Joel weighs more then Laura
  
• Jessica's wedding dress was white, Laura's wedding dress was white
  
• Joel is a middle school band director (Go Scotties!), Justin played clarinet in his middle school band
• Jessica and Laura both have a Cajun Grandmother!

It really is quite astounding...

One week and counting...

One week from today our honeymoon begins. What we've been saying is 5 months (but is actually only 4 months and 12 days) of constantly being on the go begins with a stop in San Fransisco to visit Christopher (see Best Man). For those of you wondering, here's how that to do list looks:

Done:

- Visit Travel Clinic
- Buy Camera (DSLR Canon Rebel XS with 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses)
- Get India Visa
- Buy luggage
- Buy travel Scrabble
- Wedding Thank You card (the rest are in the mail!)
- Buy Justin's Chacos and Boots
- Passports
- Buy Guidebooks
- Buy tickets for major flights
- Place to Stay in Hong Kong
- Buy Secret waist money pouch (don't tell anyone!)
- Buy vitamins for trip

Doing:

- Travel Shots (two down, two to go)
- Typhoid Pills
- Buy vitamins for trip (there may be a few more we need to get)

To Do:

- Buy Camera Bag and travel tripod
- Jessica's Chacos
- Pay for wedding rings
- cancel gym membership
- Place to stay everywhere else
- Install Skype on computer
- ?????? (things I'm forgetting)

The "Honeymoon"!

So after the wedding, we took a couple days to relax in the hill country, staying in a B and B in Fredricksberg. It was a great diversion from all the chaos that was wedding planning, and gave us a chance to relax. But that's not the honeymoon. The honeymoon is a crazy, around-the-world trip we're taking starting January. Here's the itinerary:

Currently, we are still looking into flights to San Francisco. We are hoping to visit Christopher (Justin's brother) at Stanford, but probably won't stay in his dorm room, so we're not sure how much time we'll spend in San Fran.

The Wedding!

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make the wedding such a special event, and to all the guests who attended both in body and spirit. The night was incredible, filled with so much emotion and love -- it was a beautiful beginning to our lives together.
