Snow Sox

They may have lost, we may be cheering for the Yankees to lose, but when we went, we had a good time!

Here we are before the game, hanging out and just taking Fenway Park in. Right over Jessica's shoulder you will see the Green Monster.

The Pesky's Pole, the well-known right field foul pole at Fenway. Its primary purpose is for people to write on. It also helps indicate if a ball is fair or foul, but that's just a secondary benefit. It's really about the graffiti.

Nothing gets people excited like free stuff, especially when it relates to baseball. Granted, they need to change the song to, "Throw me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don't care if I get a black eye!"

Here's an aerial view of our seats. Granted, a couple people were a little confused when they saw a guy with a telephoto lens shooting something other than the game. Looks a little creepy...

You know how we know we had a good time? Because we won! Yeah Red Sox!

The Red Sox catcher's name is Jason Varitek, also known as Tek by his true fans.

Here's the whole crew. From left to right we have Justin's uncle Steven, two family friends, Justin's aunt Brenda, Justin's mom Jackie, Justin's cousin Talula, and Justin's wife. Or Jessica, she generally goes by Jessica.

We also attended an Oktoberfest that weekend. For some reason people believe it's an excuse to wear silly things.

In case you missed it, we recently had our first snow. Followed shortly thereafter by warm sunny days. It's exciting now, but check back in February and see how we're doing then...

Most of the snow melted when it hit the ground, but this one large flake stuck around long enough to be photographed. There's always one in every group...

I'm on a Boat!

In the world of blogs, it's always a world of "what have you done for me lately". Well, this is some of what we've been up to lately!

Board Game night, not Bored Game night, has become a regular with some of Jessica's classmates. A room full of future lawyers is just a room full of lawyer jokes in waiting. But don't tell them I said that, they're all learning about torts right now...

A room of lawyers is one thing, but a boat full of lawyers is another thing. But things went well! No, the boat didn't sink in the harbor. They were all really nice, and some of them really know how to dance!

We had hoped to get some pretty sunset shots of the city, but with the winter months fast approaching, the sunset was far too early to be enjoyed on board. Here we catch the last waning moments of light, also referred to as dusk.

We did get a pretty view of the Boston Skyline at night, but as with any night photo on a moving vehicle, the shot is either really dark or really blurry. Hopefully this is the right combination to please our audience.

Oh, here are those dancing lawyers-in-waiting I told you about. We were worried that it would be cold on a boat at night, but with all the beats pounding, we had no trouble turning on the heat!

This is a well-known suspension bridge in Boston. That is all.

Some red-haired lady found a glow stick she enjoyed waiving around. If you could see into the fourth dimension, and that fourth dimension was time, this might be kind of like what you would have seen on the boat.

But as with all things related to going out, the night ended with a T ride home. Good news is we were all smiles!

And to hopefully satisfy some of our pushier readers, here are some red leaves. Happy now?

Jumping for Joy

We recently decided to visit Boston Common.

This made Jessica really happy.

The State House sits on Beacon Hill near Boston Common. The dome is covered in 23 karat gold, giving state government the bit of bling it so often needs. They're considering scraping it off to pay off the state deficit.

Boston Common is the starting point of the Freedom Trail, which runs through the city and takes you to some of its most historic sites. It's the oldest park in the country and Martin Luther King, Jr. (a BU grad), Pope John Paul II, and Gloria Steinem have given speeches there.

Here's a swan swimming in the duck pond. Jessica tried to chase it but, by now, it had heard of her reputation and stayed far away.

A statue of George Washington near the entryway.

Walking toward the sunset on our street.

A beautiful, multi-colored, Bean-town sunset.

Boston Beginnings

Have you missed us? We've missed you. And we've come to realize that quality might be the best way to go. So to try and make more posts, we're going to post fewer pictures. So here we go!

Do you want to know what we've been up to? Well, Jessica has been going so fast, she is actually moving through the space-time continuum, leaving images of herself everywhere.

But when she's not moving, she is enjoying her desk. And her new laptop. And the roses her wonderful husband bought her.

As for Justin, he's waking up way too early, especially on his first day, seen here. You'll notice that the photo is slightly blurry -- the camera hadn't quite gotten all the sleep out of its eyes.

Here's his classroom. Granted, no students, but you will notice there is another gentleman in the photo. This is Mr. Jones, Justin's co-adviser and fellow math teacher. On a side note, of the six or so male teachers, three of them are in the math department.

That room is slightly different from this, one of Jessica's classrooms. Also empty. Slightly nicer.

This is Jessica's locker. Why does she have a locker you ask? Try carrying around 18 bricks in a backpack, and then you'll know what it's like to have 3 classes of law school books on your back.

And while we've moved to Boston, we still make time for Tex-Mex, home cooking enchiladas with some black beans.

Those of you who are still wondering, the famous person pictured was Ron Howard. He's the guy in the black shirt behind the man in the hat. Someone didn't have the fastest draw...

Why We Travel

The New York Times just posted our picture in its "Why We Travel" photos!

P.S. More Boston posts to come... (school has been keeping us busy!)

Fine Arts to Fenway to Freezers

Our last week of freedom was spent exploring some of Boston's well-known sights.

The Boston Museum of Fine Arts. We got free tickets from the public library, but when we showed up it turned out it was donation night, so we didn't have to pay anyways. But at least with the free tickets we didn't feel bad for not making a donation.

Nothing quite like hanging out with TJ. Can you imagine what his statue would say if it could talk? Probably complain about all the people misquoting him all the time.

Renoir's Dance at Bougival.

So that's why they have all those leftover pieces in Egypt. They've shipped parts all over the world. How can the Egyptians be expected to put their temples back together with parts from Karnak sitting in Boston?

An exhibit at the museum featured men and women singing Madonna songs. The artist placed an ad in a Milan newspaper inviting the singer's fans to come and be taped singing her greatest hits. Life is a mystery...

Always wanted an authentic Van Gogh doll, detachable ear and all?

We had our first celebrity sighting. First person to spot the celebrity in the photo and name them will get an autographed photo of said celebrity!

We also stopped by Fenway Park, visiting some of the Red Sox's more famous former members. Even if they are currently in a freezer somewhere.

How serious are they about their baseball around Fenway Park? Well, just pick up a copy of the paper and you'll know.

Nothing quite like a giant floating jumbo-tron, broadcasting advertisements for all to see.

More from Beantown

Here are a few more photos of Beantown.

"I'm singing in the heat, yes, singing in the heat. What a horrible feeling on such a lovely evening!"

Justin never likes to take steps backwards. It seems counterproductive. Unless the path forwards just ends.

We had the opportunity to explore a nearby farmers market. My guess is they probably won't be there in a couple months.

We decided to take the bus over into Cambridge and wander around. Also, Justin is experimenting with rear-curtain flash, which allows for both motion in the photo and clarity of the main subject, so you'll probably see more photos like this in the near future.

Why are towers fun to photograph? They stand out!

In our neighborhood there are lots of fun shops. This local fish shop picks up fish daily from the docks, and has a friendly greeter at the door.

When people ask, "What is American food?" this will be the picture I show them. America is a amazing because we welcome everything. And when you have this kind of diversity on one block, you can imagine what our neighborhood is like.

This is entitled, "Broken Dreams." Or maybe, "More fun than investing with Bernie Madoff, and just as profitable!"
